North River Lodge has stood on Murray Road for well over a century, a true Maritime home, shaped by the families who lived, worked and weathered the seasons here.
We've restored it with a light, respectful hand: keeping the hand-hewn beams, the original wood floors and the gentle creak of a staircase with history, while adding the comforts that make a modern stay easy. Nothing about it feels manufactured, because none of it is.
The result is a home that feels lived-in and loved: warm wood, soft light, and the kind of character you simply can't build new.

Step outside and the air smells of spruce and saltwater. The North River runs nearby, a white country church sits just down the road, and the highlands roll away toward the coast.
There's birdsong at dawn, mist over the fields, and at night a silence so complete you'll hear the stars come out. It's the kind of peace that's become rare, and it is the whole reason guests come this far up the Trail.

The common room is the heart of the house. In it you'll find an electric piano and a guitar, and a large flat-screen TV with live channels, so you don't have to miss a special show or sporting event. The kitchen and the rear quarters of the house are sectioned off for the owner's use only.
A coffee maker, kettle and laundry are available for guests, and the deck is yours for taking in the mountain view. Looking after the home and one another keeps it peaceful for everyone.

Locks and your own key
Every bedroom, and its bathroom, has a deadbolt lock. You hold your own key for your entire stay, so your space stays private and secure whether you are in or out exploring.
Your privacy, respected
This is your home while you are here. We do not enter your room during your stay without asking first, and your comings and goings are always your own.
A well-cared-for home
Smoke and carbon-monoxide detectors, good lighting and a quiet, secure setting are all part of a home that is genuinely looked after, season after season.
Good to know before you book
Please keep your room and belongings secured with the key provided. While we take great care of our guests and our home, North River Lodge cannot be held responsible for the loss, theft or damage of any personal belongings, valuables or vehicles during your stay, and guests use the property and grounds at their own risk. A quiet atmosphere is part of the experience, so we ask for respectful behaviour and quiet hours overnight. Our home is best suited to adults and children aged 12 and over, and we are unable to accommodate pets. Full booking and cancellation terms are shared with you at the time of reservation. If anything is ever unclear, please just ask. We are always happy to help.
